LONDON, Jan 1 (Reuters) - Four-times African champions Cameroon have cancelled their pre-Nations Cup training camp in Kenya because of post-election violence in the east African nation, coach Otto Pfister said in Yaounde.
The Indomitable Lions were due to fly to Kenya this week for high altitude training before heading on to Ghana where the tournament kicks off on Jan. 20.
Announcing a 28-man shortlist for the tournament, the German coach said the 10-day camp will now take place from Jan. 4 in the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, "because of the climate of insecurity that reigns" in Kenya.
Pfister said he would name a definitive 23-man squad after the 10-day training session.
* There was a minute's applause before kickoff at English league matches on Tuesday for Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell, who died after collapsing during a Scottish Premier League match on Saturday.
